T’was just weeks before Christmas,
And all through the house…
Well, truth to tell, I was actually falling in and out of overwhelm and anxiety. T’is the season, after all. As usual, I have the usual expectations of a ‘perfect’ holiday. (This never seems to work out as planned, no matter how hard I try). But this year is also the 1st anniversary of my dad’s death. Yup, just 11 days before Christmas last year. And, like alot of folks, my feelings about my dad are complicated.
So, not unexpectedly, there’s lots I’ve been tapping on, amongst all the holiday preparations. And part of that this year has been a 21 day tapping process that’s based on manifesting a new reality for me, through tapping in the morphic field.
The Morphic Field Manifestation process…
It begins with a short affirmation of my choice. This month, it’s about me learning to live consciously within gratitude and abundance (rather than the opposite) – you know, the ‘glass half full’ rather than half empty.
So, this morning as I was tapping on this focus, I suddenly saw myself watching the movie “Scrooge” and tapping along as I watched. Whatever was happening in the movie, because I was witnessing it, I was tapping along. This meant clearing out a bunch of nasty old limiting thoughts, beliefs and feelings that still get in the way of me living more consciously within gratitude in each moment.
What got triggered in me
The central beliefs and thoughts and feelings about abundance (or scarcity) I picked up (as most of us do) in my early childhood, when I was absorbing what the adults around me were thinking, feeling and doing, related to the limitations they had picked up and were unconsciously living.
So for me, this was about money, having ‘enough’ (or not), ‘rich’ people, ‘poor’ people, where we fit along that continuum (closer to the ‘not enough’ end, though we always managed to get by).
And of course, with this particular movie, there could also be tapping into what Scrooge experiences at the end of the film – deep reverence and gratitude for the gifts of life and its bounty for me… reconnecting me more deeply to gratitude.
I realized that ‘movie tapping’ like this is basically the same as a really good tapping session with a practitioner.
Here’s how ‘movie tapping’ works:
I set my intentions, my focus at the beginning. I rate how triggered I feel by the ‘dark’ material in the movie that intrudes on my focus on gratitude. Then I watch and tap along.
This could be done with any good movie that’s been written along the lines of Joseph Campbell’s Hero/ine’s Journey story arc.
You know: unsuspecting hero/ine at the beginning, who falls into some life experience that shatters how they used to see themselves (because their old ways of coping don’t address the current situation). They need to dig deeper (tap to clear out the outmoded thoughts/beliefs/feelings)… to go on the hero/ine’s journey to discover something meaningful, by facing their fears or old and limiting beliefs.
This journey brings them to a brand new resolution, and they step into embodying something new and wondrous in their human possibilities.
My first experiment with ‘movie tapping’
For me, when I experimented with this the first time with ‘Scrooge’, what I experienced was profound. My sense of gratitude deepened.
Although I’m not yet consciously living each moment in gratitude, I realize it’s really not about the end result. It’s definitely about abundantly enjoying each moment of the journey rather than obsessing about the destination.
To this end, I have found no better tools for shifting into expanded consciousness than tapping in the morphic field.
Using fun to encourage our tapping to clear out the old, bring in the new…
Many times, we come to tapping feeling weighted down with a ‘problem.’
This automatically shifts our brain into being more serious, more concerned about our safety. And that means, we shift into the fight/flight stressed patterns that are the human default setting. There’s not any space for fun in there.
So I hope you try this too. It’s a fun, entertaining and playful way to release old limitations and shift into our more expansive human possibilities.
It could also be done with a good story that you relate to (though I haven’t tried this myself yet). Even a fairy tale or children’s story (they often follow the Hero/ine’s journey story arc) could ‘work’. Hmmm, even a song that resonates in your heart… The possibilities seem limitless.

As for me, I’ve got some popcorn to make now… and a movie to watch!
